Cupping Therapy

What is cupping therapy?

Cupping therapy is an alternative therapy using special cups which are placed on the skin to create a

suction effect.  The therapy can be considered one form of deep tissue massage.

The cups are placed on areas of tightness such as the upper back, lower back and shoulders.  A pump is used to create a vacuum inside the cups and pulls the muscle into the cup and gives it a good stretch.  This lengthens and releases tight muscles whilst increasing circulation to the area to further relax the muscle.

No pressure is used, just the suction of the cups!

Cupping marks will appear on the skin and generally last for a few days.  This can be a sign that congestion has occurred and is a positive outcome, suggesting the treatment has successfully removed toxins and stagnation

The benefits of cupping therapy

Cupping helps in increasing blood flow to an effected area, which restores the functionality of damaged muscle tissue.  Cupping also releases accumulated fluids in the affected area.  These fluids can be composed of toxins and other

non-beneficial elements including lactic acid.   Cupping drains these fluids from the bloodstream increasing blood circulation.

It can be used to treat musculoskeletal conditions therefore used in conjunction with a deep tissue or Sports massage, enhancing the overall effect and treatment.
